Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Coverage

Health care coverage is offered to all regular full-time employees and is administered through Blue Care Network (HMO Plans) and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (PPO Plans). Various plans are available to best meet you and your family’s needs, with each providing prescription, preventative, and catastrophic coverage. Vision and dental plans are also available through leading providers VSP and Delta Dental.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for Medical and Dependent Care

Set money aside tax-free to use for certain out-of-pocket health care costs throughout the year.

Benefit Resource Center

In addition to our Human Resources team, the Benefit Resource center provides employees with experienced professionals who can answer questions and provide assistance related to claims, benefit eligibility, and more.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Rest and relaxation away from work are important, so we provide employees with a generous amount of paid time off annually to use as they wish. Once their normal PTO amount has been exhausted, employees have the option to purchase additional time off.

Paid Sick Leave

Employees also receive a separate amount of paid sick leave each year to use for time away from work due to illness.

Hastings observes several paid holidays including:

Personal Floating Holiday

We understand that not everyone celebrates the same holiday. To support this, employees are given an additional day annually at their discretion to use however they wish!

Paid Volunteer Day

Each year, employees are given an additional day to spend time giving back to their community through volunteering.

401(k) Plan

We assist our employee’s in their retirement planning by offering an employer match to 401(k) plan contributions in addition to an annual discretionary lump sum contribution.

Incentive Compensation Plan

Employees share in the success of Hastings, with an annual bonus program tied to our financial results.

Annual Performance Review and Merit Increase Program

This program rewards employee performance, achievement of individual goals, and meeting company objectives.

Training Bonuses for Achieving Professional Designations

Monetary bonuses are offered to celebrate and recognize those who earn certain insurance industry-related certifications.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Much like a concierge service, our EAP provides a range of services to our employees, dependents, and household members. Confidential, professional counselors address marriage and family, addiction, legal and financial concerns, emotional problems, and other relationships, among other topics. There is no cost for these services.

Primary Care Physician (PCP) Visit Program and Tobacco Cessation Program

It pays to be healthy! Employees who visit their primary care physician for annual screenings earn premium discounts for the following plan year, in addition to incentives for completing a tobacco attestation form or company-approved tobacco cessation program.

Insurance Specific Training and Education

On-site Toastmasters International® Club

Paid Professional Development and Tuition Reimbursement

Hastings Insurance Company Charitable Foundation

In late 2004, Hastings Insurance Company formed and funded the Hastings Insurance Company Charitable Foundation. The Foundation’s primary mission is to fund essential needs of living, including food, clothing, and medical services for at-risk youth and financially challenged or catastrophe-stricken families, and to provide other support for the general welfare and betterment of the community. This includes Hastings, neighboring areas, and the communities where our valued agent representatives and policyholders live and work.

Adopt-A-Family

Every year employees of Hastings “adopt” a local family during the holidays. Through this program, we have brought hope and joy – along with toys, clothing, and meals – to children, seniors, and veterans in need.

Adopt-A-Highway

Adopt-A-Highway encourages volunteers to keep a section of a highway free from litter. By participating, we are leaving our roadways safer and cleaner.

Fresh Food Initiative

The Fresh Food Initiative participates with Barry County United Way and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan to assist families who need assistance with meals.

Support Our Troops

Support Our Troops sends millions of dollars in goods and services to service people in all branches of the military, from container shipments to bases all the way to donations and interaction with individual soldiers.

United Way

The United Way’s focus is to identify and resolve pressing community issues and to make measurable change in communities through partnerships with schools, businesses, organizations, and more.

Volunteer Day

Hastings is committed to being a positive presence in our communities, and allowing our employees the time to be involved in organizations about which they are passionate. Hastings provides every employee a full, paid day for volunteer work, of their choosing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a résumé to apply for a position?

While not required, we encourage attaching a detailed, up-to-date résumé to your application, so your background and qualifications can be thoroughly reviewed.

How long does the process take?

We’re committed to bringing successful talent to Hastings, so we take time to thoroughly review, screen, and interview applicants. As we may be meeting with multiple candidates, some decisions take longer than others. A member of our human resources team will be sure to keep you as up-to-date as possible so you’re aware of your status.

When are interviews conducted?

Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday. Keep that in mind when providing availability for your initial and/or on-site interview. If you need an interview slightly before or after those hours, just let us know — we can be flexible!

Our Hiring Process

  APPLY

Found the perfect opportunity with us? The first step is to apply through our website, which takes only a few minutes.


  REVIEW

After your application is received, the hiring team will review your background to see if you meet the minimum qualifications and if your experience aligns with our business needs.


  INTERVIEW

If we see a potential fit, you'll receive an invitation for an initial interview with a member of our Human Resources team, where you'll share your background in detail. Your interviewer will take time to answer any questions you might have.


  MEET

If you move forward in the interview process, you will have additional sessions with the hiring manager and often peers or other leaders from the position's functional area. Interviews are typically held virtually via video. However, an in-person interview may also occur at our corporate offices in Hastings, Michigan.


   OFFER

Once the decision is made, Human Resources will call you to extend a conditional employment offer. Upon acceptance, we'll determine a start date and conduct a background check with a drug screen. You'll also receive more information on your first day to prepare for a successful career with Hastings Insurance!
