Nonprofit of the Month: Making The Turn Against Parkinson’s

The Hastings Mutual Insurance Company Charitable Foundation recognizes the contributions of nonprofit organizations in the communities we serve. Each month, we’ll honor one of those organizations as our Nonprofit of the Month.

Many organizations sponsor golf outings to help raise funds; it’s a simple way to get a lot of people together doing something they enjoy. Making The Turn Against Parkinson’s is one such organization. While many groups support the important scientific research being done to combat Parkinson’s disease, Making The Turn Against Parkinson’s provides help for people with the disease and their families.

 

For more than a decade, a free exercise program for people with Parkinson’s has been available at the Michigan Athletic Club in East Lansing, MI. The Parkinson’s Foundation recommends exercise as a treatment for the disease.

Making The Turn Against Parkinson’s also sponsors a scholarship for the children of Parkinson’s patients.

Exercise and a scholarship: both are funded by what Making The Turn Against Parkinson’s might be best known for, its regular golf outing. It’s been held for the past 9 years, most recently this past June.

Making The Turn Against Parkinson’s is supported by Hastings Mutual and Abbott Insurance and Financial Center (East Lansing MI).
